Rules are an important part in maintaining
the structure and effectiveness of our program,
and they are enforced. China Institute students and their families are required to sign a statement of agreement indicating their acceptance of school rules and to acknowledge that failure to meet the school’s disciplinary code can, in fact, lead to dismissal from the program. Respect to our host institution and host country is of the utmost importance and is expected of each student in our program. Any behavior that brings insult to host institution and host country and or is damaging to China Institute’s Summer Study program will not be tolerated. A copy of our full disciplinary code is viewable at our website, www.chinasummerstudy. org. KEEPING IN TOUCH: CORRESPONDENCE WITH PARENTS & GUARDIANS Students will be able to communicate with the U.S. either by telephone or via the Internet, to which they will have access. Phone cards can be purchased in the U.S. or in China that permit inexpensive communication at a few cents/minute. At any time parents and guardian can check on their children’s status via our toll-free number in the US, by emailing us at studyabroad@chinainstitute.org, or calling us direct at the host institution in Beijing, PRC. Current contact information at our host institution in China will be made available before departure and is also available by calling China Institute in America at 212-744-8181. |
![]() HEALTH CARE Medical, accident and travel insurance are not included in the program fee. All students are required to have insurance coverage against illness, accidents and other medical emergencies and evacuation while they are in China. It is highly recommended that parents or guardians check with their insurance provider to confirm if such coverage for China is included in your policy and if it can be added if it is currently not included. Students who do not have such coverage must purchase it through a China Institute recommended insurance vendor. The city of Beijing is replete with first-rate medical schools, hospitals, clinics and numerous excellent doctors. Internists at Western style clinics can treat students’ routine illnesses and are quick to refer to competent specialists when appropriate. Should any serious medical problems arise the on-site resident director will immediately notify parents or guardians at home. |
